I cann't insert movies in in any slide show in PowerPoint 2000. Whenever I try to do so I get the error message, <b>"Power Point could not insert a movie from the selected file. Either the file is non-standard or Quick Time is not installed properly."</b>
I have installed Quicktime but of no avail. I don't think that files are non-standard as they can be inserted into PowerPoint 97 very nicely.
Any clues???

I have finally discovered the solution of the problem from Microsoft Knowledge Base. I am posting it for the ease of those who might have been facing the same problem.
I foung following articles related to the probelm.

1.<A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q212409&GSSNB=1" target="_new">PPT2000: Unable to Insert a Movie from the Selected File (Q212409)</A>

2.<A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q235950&GSSNB=1" target="_new">PPT2000: Unable to Insert QuickTime Movies (Q235950)</A>

Apparently 2nd Article seems to be the exact solution because it contains exactly the same error message which I have mentioned in the question, but I found the solution in the first article.
I was trying to insert '.dat' files but dat extension was not registered in 'win.ini'.
