Hey guys I'm new here. I found Tom's Hardware recently and I really liked the info available here so I decided to post a question on here.

I want to get a new laptop and i was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on some good gaming laptops. Preferably under $2000. I'm just looking for some good brands, so far i just know about the major ones(HP,Sony, Toshiba, Alienware,Velocity Micro and a few others) and which tech is good for gaming.Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

You can fill out Maziar's sticky for a more complete response, but for your budget, I suggest you look at Sager notebooks.

U could also check www.newegg.com for the MSI GT725 or GT627 priced at under US$ 2000;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] rchInDesc=

www.xoticpc.com, www.amazon.com also have these laptops.

Of course www.sagernotebook.com is excellent for the Clevo machines, but the pricing is kinda extreme for your budget (U get top quality hardware with Software though.)

Finally, the Asus G Series notebooks and N Series are good (check www.newegg.com ), but the MSI price would be the lowest either way for the gpu, cpu, ram & HDD combination U get.

Hope it helps.

For mobile CPU go for Intel,but for VGA it depends,within that budget your best bet is 9800MGTS.

Yup Core2Duo is faster than CoreDuo and uses less power too.

What is "Centrino" technology? I see it a lot in brochures for laptops and stuff.

Its the technology that intel first used in Intel CoreDuo(Intel Centrino)and then used in Core2Duo(Centrino 2 )
