Whenever I go to any website that has images on it, most of them show up as red "x"'s in the place of the image. Sometimes when I reload the page more images show up, but still not all of them. I can always force the image to show up by right-clicking on it and selecting "show picture". Also, when the page is using Java script and I put my mouse cursor over it to activate the image,it will show up that way too; links and normal pics do not show up this way however. I have uninstalled all of the IE add-ons and removed all of my OS tweaks and even rolled back to IE 5.0 and it was still doing it. So I reinstalled IE 6.0 and it is still doing the same thing. I have all of the updates from MS Windows Update, I can't think of anything else to do short of reinstalling my OS. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this before I resort to a Format C: ?
Formatting because of a problem like this should not even be within the realm of the discussion, IMHO. Not all issues require a complete reinstallation of the operating system ... in fact, that is a rare occurance when troubleshooting.
Have you checked to see if the "Show Pictures" check box in the browser has been selected?
Open the browser. Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Multimedia/Show Pictures.
If checking the box doesn't make a difference, you might wish to explore some of the options on this page:

Thank you guys for responding to my post and giving me advice. I finally found that the problem was with the WebTrap Filter in my anti-virus software. It's designed to block Java and Active X, however it was blocking everything. I have it working ok now, thanks again.
