Driver/WLAN Adapter Issue

Hello all,

My wife's laptop has recently begun to experienc an issue with either the WLAN adapter itself or the what I believe is a driver conflict. I have been unable to pin it down so I am turning to you.

Things that I have noticed:

When the wireless adapter wont turn on I can do a combination of things to get it to turn on such as; removing and re-installing the display or chipset driver, restartting the laptop several times or a combination of both. The laptop'w WLAN stays on as long as the laptop is not restarted, once we restart it I have to resort to one of the above options in order to get the wireless functioning again.

I have asked the HP support team and they believe it is hardware related; my problem with that is that they want $100 for a 2 yr old laptop WLAN card so I am wanting to explore that OPTION as a last resort.

I have torn this laptop apart looking for lose connections, bad wires, or anything indicative of the wireless card being damaged and come up with nothing.

Now to the system information that I have gathered so far:

  2. idk, I have a bunch of system info, let me know what you would like to see and I will post it
  3. Definitely sounds like a driver issue. Have you searched for an updated one? What OS are you running?
  4. Yes I have installed all the latest drivers from HP, the one issue I have with that is that my firm belief is that the video driver is the culprit. I went to nVidia only to be re-directed to the HP website for the video drivers even though it is an nVidia video card. I have all of the drivers for this laptop stored on my desktop for ease of access and archiving. I have played with several combination of the drivers but unlike Dell I was not able to find a link to the service tag that would show me the original configuration of the laptop...

Currently the computer is running Vista x64, I was running 32 but I thought why not take a shot and install 64, I could revert back but I sincerly doubt that is the cause.
  5. mR742,

i don't suppose you sussed what the problem was as this is identical to my problem and configuration?

    Is really frustrating now.

    Any advise would be brilliant

    Many thanks
    Ricky
