Hi

I want to add some more ram to my machine. My motherboard is a Leadtek K7NCR18ProD. In the manual it says "the memory module must be a 2.5V"

Most of the better performance (Corsair XMS, etc) ram modules list their voltage as 2.6V or greater.

Can I use sticks that are >2.5V or must I use 2.5 ?

Thank you !
H

You could have problems. Most of the better stuff likes higher voltages, 2.7 or 2.8v. You could get errors under-volting. The best stuff for that board would be some older Kingston HyperX. It ran at 2.5v, even the PC3500.

Abit IS7 - 2.8C @ 3.4 - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!

I think I remeber cruciallabs posting about this and sayign that it wouldnt pose problem and that some MB manufacturer underate the voltage or something like that....

Anyway you can check in the bios see if you can change the VDIMM from auto to 2.6 or higher that would answer your question.

Altough if it stated must be probly means you have to find a 2.5v module.

Actually, a lot of boards UnderVolt the memory, which makes 2.5v dicey amongst performance memory.

I'd like to suggest Crucial Ballistix for performance RAM. It runs fairly fast at fairly low voltage.
