Does anyone know of a good barebones laptop? I'm sick of looking at a spending $175 to go from 2GB to 4GB RAM when I can buy 4GB DDR2-800 for $35 online. I called Dell and asked them if they could sell me a machine without a HDD, RAM, and OS but nope, you have to take their minimum spec wich many times already includes 4GB RAM, which no doubt hiked the price up. All I need is a decent shell with a 15.4" screen, Core 2 Duo proc @ 2.4GHz preferably, and a discreet video card with at least 256mb VRAM. Looking online at other sites such as MSI, ASUS, and a couple others, they bury the barebones systems deep in their site and then they don't give a price for the systems, and it's unclear what actually comes with them. Naturally they want you to spend as much money as possible, and a barebones system moves in the opposite direction, but it's more than annoying.
