Right now I just have a regular dvd recorder (pioneer). Since I bought my 42 inch plasma (panasonic TH42px60u) i'm thinking about getting a new dvd recorder that can up convert my dvd movies. At the moment i'm staying away from hd dvd and bluray. I'm going to wait for a while until prices start to drop and who will come out on top.

Well anyways, when it saids "up convert", how close is it up converting to hd? It states it will up convert regular dvd's to near hd quality. So instead of 480 is it more like upwards of 500? what do you guys recommend for a good up convert dvd recorders? I was thinking about getting a samsung. Not sure what model number. But it's the price at about $179 at bestbuy. Any impute would be great.
