well since overclocking seems to be a very risky proceedure for my new laptop(hp pavilion dv5-1250 us) i was curious if it is possible to upgrade existing hardwear besides ram of course because i know i can do that.I would like to add a new cpu if possible it is currently amd turion x2 ultra 64 2.1 socket S1 (638) and possibly a new vid card because mine only has a max refresh rate of 60 hrts which is ati radeon hd 3450 512mb dedicated. any help on this would be greatly appreciated bacause it doesnt seem to be runing as well as other lower end laptops.

You can upgrade your CPU, just keep your choices limited to those with your current CPU's TDP.

On 95% of notebooks, it's impossible to upgrade graphics cards. HP doesn't use specific cards, only motherboards with GPUs already on them. I'm afraid the chances of you being able to upgrade your GPU are about one in five hundred.

Also, refresh rate has nothing to do with your graphics card, and increasing it will not change the performance of your system.

When you buy lower-end machines..you're usually stuck with what you pay for.
