i have palned to buy a samsung galaxy y phone and would like to connect to my Hp laptop DV7.can i share the internet through wifi from phone to laptop?

Your HP dv7 laptop should be able to connect to internet through WiFi without a phone.

Are you talking about using your phone as a cellular modem to connect by mobile data plan? That's usually called tethering.
