I think the 2035 is just an updated version/better version of the 2025. I'd go with the 2035... or 2025 if it is super cheap somewhere.

I've been told that the 2035 isn't worth the extra expense over the 2025. I think the only difference is the lower response time, and that in actual testing, there's little difference even there.

I was just wondering if anyone that has this monitor VG2030WM can tell me if the refresh rate is 75mhz or higher at 1680 - 1050? I am wondering because I am interested in buying this monitor but anything under 75mhz makes me feel sick for some reason. any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated

With a quoted response time of 8ms, I imagine the refresh rate would be at least 75MHz.

Are you referring to a CRT or an LCD? A crt "flickers" at lower refresh rates; thus the reason for wanting to set the refresh rate as high as possible -- to get rid of the flicker and reduce the eye strain that it causes. LCDs do not flicker in the same way when they update the image, though it is possible you may notice other issues with lower refresh rates like tearing in video.

Response time does not determine a monitor's refresh rate, though you can theoritically calculate the minimum response time you need to achieve a certain refresh rate. (But with the box specs always being wrong and all, even this isn't possible.) Anyways, essentially the only way to know if it has a higher refresh is to check the specs or try it yourself. Some low ms monitors may have higher refresh rates, some may not.

Yeah, thanks for re-iterating that. I was referring to the fact that you can calculate it, but I couldn't really remember how.

the model number for the monitor I was refering to is a lcd monitor. Idealy what I am looking for is a lcd monitor that has a refresh rate of 85mhz. If anyone knows of one I would greatlt appreciate that information.

Do LCD monitors make you sick when you look at them? Nearly every single LCD on the market is probably gonna be 75 hz or lower (most are 60hz).

yes, really any monitor that has a refresh rate lower then 85mhz makes my head hurt and after about 30min i start to feel sick. looks like I will be using my crt for a long while to come.

Where do you notice the problem? During games and video? Are you sure the problem is not due to slow response times on LCD monitors?

It is impossible for the refresh rate to negatively anyone if you are looking at a constant picture that does not change. CRTs are different though, because the refresh rate is tied to the flickering of the picture, where as on LCDs there is no such flicker. The only area where you can notice refresh rates on an LCD is during motion.

when you say this, do you mean you've sat in front of a LCD for that long and had those symptoms?.

I myself can't work with a CRT thats any less than 75mhz refresh, or I end up with headaches and such from the flicker.. but I'm fine with any lcd.
LCD displays are inherently stable, unlike CRT's which are simply excited phosphors that flicker rapidly.
