Hi!

I'm buing a totally new computer. I'm getting a A64 3500+ and a GF 6800 GT card, so to match the performance I need a good 1GB of memory. So, my to my question:

Is Corsair DDR CMX512-4000 worth the price? It costs 199 € a piece, so the total would be 398€. I could get a goodish PC-3200 memory 1GB for 160€. The price difference is quite large. I would like to overclock also, but is paying almost 240€ more for Corsair still anyhow a good choice??

And, one more thing. If I don't overclock, do I still benefit from Corsair, and how much??

Thanks in advance! I'm planning on ordering my rig pretty soon, so any help is appreciated.

If you dont OC no benefit whatsoever with buying PC4000
Get crucial Ballistix Pc3200 , tightest timming possible and it will run at PC4000 with relaxed timmings.

Asus P4P800DX, P4C 2.6ghz@3.25ghz, 2X512 OCZ PC4000 3-4-4-8, Leadtek FX5900 w/ FX5950U bios@500/1000, 2X30gig Raid0

I can't get my hands on crucial very easily. I have to think about this. Thanks for the reply, now I'm quite convinced I will not go for Corsair.

The benefit of the corsair is guaranteed oc. Also, if you were really worried about stability at 400fsb, the 4000 would run very stable. That being said, if you don't plan to OC, prob better off with 3200 ram. Get it cheaper and with tighter timings. Although, my Corsair XMS4000 does 2.5-3-3 just fine at 3200.

Basically it sort of like this; You get 90% of the performance relatively cheaply, however you will break the bank getting the last 10%. (Note the faster RAM doesn't mean a 10% increase, that was just an example)

Anyways, you are buying a A64 3500+ and a 6800 GT, and wondering if the ram is worth the extra price, If only I had such problems!

Anyways, sounds like it will be an awesome machine. Good Luck

Crucial hard to get? I think their website sales apply to most developed countries.
