This may be a stupid question, but I am looking to buy a laptop for the first time, I am contemplating getting a HP dv6 1030 or 1050, both are reasonably priced and have pretty much what I want....

My only real problem is both don't have a great video card... I don't play any games atm, but most likely will in the future, and want to know if it is possible to upgrade the video card without voiding my warranty...

HP does not use a graphics socket of any kind. Graphics upgrades for that manufacturer are impossible without a completely new motherboard...which is incredibly hard to get.

Buy the best graphics card you can afford pre-installed.
