Some time back I saw a burner advertised that could burn an image into the top of the disk. It was touted as replacing paper cd labels. It was quite nifty. For the life of me, though, I can't find it again. I must not be using the right keywords. If you know what I'm talking about any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is <b><A HREF="http://www.yamahamultimedia.com/yec/products/cdrw/crwf1.asp" target="_new"><font color=blue>Yamaha CRW-F1</A></b></font color=blue> with its "<b><font color=red>DISCT@2 TECHNOLOGY</b></font color=red>" that allows text and images can be drawn on the unused portion of a CD-R disc (not on the top).
AFAIK, that's the only CDRW can do it.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

Wasn't HP showing one at a few tech shows, that burned the image to the top of the disk? I thought I saw it on Slashdot a while back, but couldn't find it. But I swear I thought I saw a prototype that did the top.

Thats exactly what I was talking about! I knew I saw it somewhere. Thanks Wesociety.

I'd love to have one, of course I am sure there will be a hefty premium price tag with them when they do get released.
