Earlier this year, we were wowed by a collection of five big-screen MCE notebook PCs. We return to this fertile field of technology, and find ourselves impressed by the quality and fidelity that HD-DVD players deliver, especially on big, capable HDTVs with HDMI inputs.

What about 1080p? The Toshiba web site states the their notebook will only output 1080i over hdmi. However, the HP web site implies that their notebook is capable of outputting 1080p over hdmi - has anyone been able to verify if the hp notebook can actually output hd-dvd movies at 1080p over the hdmi port? Also, an interesting notebook to compare to these two would be the sony ar290g.
