R.I.P. 321 Studios

After a multi year battle with the MPAA and gaming companies, the DVD copy program company 321 Studios is dead. Though the MPAA claims this is a huge blow to the piracy numbers, I personally don't know anyone who used that P.O.S. program. In my experience, 321 Studios has buggy and unreliable DVD copying, I use other ones like DVD Shrink or Clone DVD.

Did ANYONE use 321 studios DVD X Copy? Is this the beginning of the end to DVD copying?

The MPAA can sue whoever they want, they will never stop DVD copying. No matter what they do, there will always be someone who will want to copy it. And where there is a will, there is a way.

I remember when the RIAA sued Napster, Napster all but shut-down, however 20 other programs/services popped up, even better than Napster.

Same here, I never used 321 software, but they weren't the only software for doing this. I think this is leading more towards a freeware/open source software, vs. a commercial solution. The commercial versions (people trying to make money off it), are the ones that seem to draw the most attention.

Look at all the advances for copy protection CDs, however copy protection methods have always been cracked shortly after being released. They won't be able to stop copying, they can only raise the bar making it more difficult for the average joe to figure it out.

I don't know why you didn't like DVD X Copy, other than its hefty price tag. I've used it and it works just fine.

As has been pointed out, this doesn't do a damn thing to DVD copying as there are plenty of other ways to copy DVDs.

I agree that if anything DVD copying is just starting to grow, I just wanted to throw the question out.

DVD X Copy was one of the first programs that could copy DVD movies so of course the technology could have flaws that newer (and free) programs could be devoid of.

Haha I remember that a DVD movie copied from DVD X Copy would display a screen before the movie telling that this DVD is a copy, and it annoyed the hell out of me.

I grabbed it when it first came out(dvd x copy express)...I had mixed results with it...I think Spitty recommended DVD Shrink and DVD decrypter to me...and they blow 123's product out of the water...you get everything too, special features and scene selection. I have noticed that a few of the dvd x copy disks have stopped working in my dvd player. The afore mentioned software is free too (DVD Shrink).

The truth is out there...and unfortunately so are the LIES
