Best pocket series digital camera?

I use the term pocket series loosely, but I mean any small ultra compact digital cameras.

I'm not a professional photographer but I do want a nice compact camera I can take with me to the park or when I'm out with my friends to capture those insane moments. I'm wondering if anyone has knowledge on the best company to go with? I've looked at Sony, Kodak and Fuji's compact cameras and all seem appealing; it's just hard to decide.

Any recommendations?

Canon Powershot SD series *or* Kodak V-series.

(Personally, I think the Kodaks look much sexier 8) , but the Canon's have better photos usually (if only a tad bit so))
