ok need some help i always worked with amd i am thinking of trying intel...this is my old system ...amd phenom quad 4 9600 asus m2n68-am se2 kinston 4 gig of ram. i just add a couple of months ago gigabite 6850 hd video card corsair gs 700 and a bigger case a z11 plus. ok i like some input about the two. and i like to keep my power supply , video card. right now i think i am having over heating or it just cant keep up.

2nd and 3rd generation i7 CPUs blow the FX-6100 out of the water.

You have to consider that i7s also cost ALOT more than the FX-6100.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz

- works on your current motherboard
- will move forward to AM3+ when you are ready
(has both DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller operation)
- will run (way) cooler and clock (way) higher than your original 9600BE

It also goes on sale quite frequently BUT is EOL and may disappear without notice (leaving you hanging)

yes, Your video card will work. You'll also have to upgrade your ram. DDR2 is not going to work in any new mobo
