I bought a Kreton 256mb PC2700 memory module from Newegg for a Dell Dimension 2400. It already had a single 256mb module installed. I plug the new module into the second slot and the computer won't start. It just issues beep messages indicating memory errors. If I remove the new module, the computer starts normally. Is this a bad module or did I buy the wrong thing for my computer?

The Dell manual specifies PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR SDRAM

The label on the Kreton module says 256MB-333Mhz-CL2.5 PC2700U-25330 3-3071901

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jeff

Thanks. Yes I tried that. I removed the dell memory (Infineon) and put the new module in the slot where the dell memory was. Same result.

I think you have a bad module.
