Hi JR
Firstly have a look in the relevant program to see if there is a setting to
stop the startup. Then try the option via msconfig>start-up. Uncheck any
programs in there that you don't want starting up with Windows and then
reboot your system.

thanks very much, that's what I was looking to do! I had several programs
booting that slowed the system down.

Hi
There are several programs that put themselves into the startup routine
without notifying the user - very annoying sometimes!!

Hi,
Check for an option to not having the icon load in the System Tray via the
program(s) in question.
Other options for removal:
Go to Start/Run and type in: msconfig. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck
accordingly. Then run this script to remove the disabled items from the
registry.

First step should be to check in the options for the program you don't
want to start and see if there is a setting to tell it not to run at
startup. The next step is to remove any entries you don't want from the
two startup folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
For anything else uncheck their entries in the startup tab of msconfig:
Start | Run | Msconfig | Ok
Another option is to remove the reference to them from one of these keys
in the registry:
