So I got a really good deal on a Sony VPL-PX 20 projector a few months back but the bulb has quite a few hours on it now, and the bulbs cost $400 a pop 8O. My question is will turning down the brightness or switching the bulb from standard to low mode give it a bit more life? I've heard people saying it does and some say it doesn't.

It should. My Mitsubishi claims 2,000hrs on standard, 3,000 on low.
