I have an old sidewinder force feedback joystick, and was recently trying to
get it to work on my new pc, running xp. The new pc doesnt have a gameport,
but the joystick came with a 15-pin to usb converter, so I used that instead.

However, when following the guides onlone, of which tell me to use the
sidewinder[auto detect], i get an error message saying that I may have issues
with my gameport. It also doesnt automatically detect the joystick through
usb.

I was thinking, that some drivers that work in xp (ie. not the 3.02 ones)
would solve the problem, however I am not having much luck.

All suggestions will be most appreciated

The big thing is, do you know the joystick came with the adpater......or are
you hoping it would work (most are usually gameport or USB only).

Beyond that, what's the exact error you're getting?

The error message you are getting is because the drivers that are installed
using the Add... button are all for gameport devices, and you don't have a
gameport. The USB dongle that came with the device will allow you to connect
to the system and it should PnP and just work. If it doesn't chances are you
have a VIA controller for your USB device and you just need updated drivers
to get the game controller to work.
