Hi all,

Does anyone know how can I view .ETL file that was issued by the Preformance
logs and alerts?

Thanks

I'm not quite sure what .etl file to which you are referring. If you
want to see what is happening with your Windows machine, use Event
Viewer:

Start>Run>eventviewer.msc [enter]

Other than that, if you are having problems with which you'd like some
help, please post back with details.

Thanks for your response.

The Function I’m using is available after adding the “Performance Log and
Alert Snap-in to the MMC (WinXP Pro Edition Sp2).

An ETL file is created when activating the Counter log or the Trace log,
I’m trying to figure out how can I view this file.

I’ll appreciate any help,
M.

I spent a fair amount of time Googling around, using variations of
"Windows XP Performance Log and Alert snap-in" and got lots of
interesting sites. From a cursory viewing of a number of these sites,
it would seem that you need to have a separate program to view logs
created with the snap-in. However, I was skimming the information
quickly and didn't find a definitive answer for you.

I'd suggest that you do some Googling yourself, and also post your
question in one of the server groups since many of the regulars posting
there are sysadmins and will know the answer immediately. You might try
microsoft.public.windows.server.general to start, or look at this list
of all the MS newsgroups to find one that you think will be a better
fit for your questions:
