Firstly,

Hello one and all!

Over the past few months I have been continuly directed to this forum from Google whilst doing searches for hardware problems so I decided to join and become a member. It seems to be the place to be for me anyway.

So hope you don't mind having me and look forward to helping and being helped and getting to know you guys.

On that I will proceed, if I may, to my first question:

I have been handed a Compaq EVO 1020v and asked to do some work to it one of which is to change the CDRW drive to DVDRW drive.

Can anyone direct me to a cheap replacement drive that will suit this machine?

Is there a certain type of drive that works in this system or are they all generic?

There isn't a generic one. Search for a drive made for your specific model. There's no standard in the notebook world for drives.
