Toshiba A105 issue

There is a black block cutting off the left hand side of my screen. The images or pages that I open fit into the screen part that is not black. its like my screen is off center and sometimes when I come ot of stand by its back to normal but as soon as a shut off my computer or go to stand by again its back. I have tried getting help from toshiba and they just really didn't help at all so this is my last hope before buying a new one.

this happens the whole time from the time i turn on my computer. It just started one day while I was writing a paper and had to put it in stand by.
