I am interested in a model that does 1080p and is at the very minimum 55 inches (58 or 60 would be more ideal). 52" models are around $2,800, so the price should not be drastically more (like double). Is it even possible to get such an LCD within a reasonable price? How about plasma?

Unfortunatly, it appears that once you go over 52", the prices go up drastically (nearly doubling in price) on LCD and Plasm. Unfortunately, the picture on the more reasonably priced rear projection does not look as good in terms of contrast, rich colors, and viewing angle. Am I just looking at bad models or is the common for all rear projection?

This is the best I could find Sharp Aquos

It's 52'' and supports 1080p. PLasmas get too expensive over 50'' and it's hard to find an LCD in anything larger than 52''.

:) That's the exact same model I landed on as well. Once you try to go higher -- 55 & 58" -- prices really start to get out of hand.

How about LCOS screens? I don't really like the issues with screen uniformity rear projection, but I heard that some can adjust for that and solve it (by reducing brightness in the center to equal the edges). Don't suppose you know any?

Not a clue. Yeah prices really sky rocket after 52''. I saw a 60'' plasma for over 7000 on Newegg. I would rather spend that money towards a new car or build a serious gaming computer. But a TV? no chance.
