Hi,

I have had a lengthy correspondance with Symantec. They have ended the
correspondance with the comment, this is a Microsoft problem ...
Contack Microsoft (now that's way to expensive to get Norton Ghost
9!!).

I bought Norton Ghost 9. I installed the program. No errors during
installation. When I then try to run the program I get the following
error:

..NET Framework Initialization Error

X c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.net\Framework\v1.0.3705\msworwks.dll could
not be loaded

I've followed instruction to completly uninstall Microsoft.net and
Norton Ghost (also used the Microfsoft Installaer clean up utility).
I've installed Microsoft.net from several sources ... every time it
installed without any error messages, I've tried to install Norton
Ghost 9:

1. Initially installing Microsoft.net
2. After Installing Micrtosoft.net and upgrading with SP1
3 After 2. and updating with critical updates via Windows Update.

Each and every time Noton Ghost 9 installes without error messages,
however trying to run Norton Ghost 9 gives the same error message.

Anyone got any idea where to look??

Regards Leif.

What version of MS.NET are you installing? v1.0.3705 is MS.NET version 1.0,
which has all the way up to a SP3 available. If after you install MS.NET
you only have a SP1 available, then you are installing MS.NET v1.1 - giving
you a folder named v.1.1.4322 in the same place v.1.0.3705 is.
Trying locating and installing MS.NET v1.0 and see if that fixes your
problem?

The difference lies in the programming language used to create it, MS.NET
v1.0 is used by VS.NET 2k2, where MS.NET v1.1 is used by VS.NET 2k3 - they
are NOT interchangable. It will just become more complicated after the
release of VS.NET 2k5, and is will use MS.NET v2.0, again not
interchangeable, not backwards compatible.

Thank you for your suggestion. I located the Ms.Net 1.0 files and
downloaded them .... And it solved the error message - THANK YOU.

I DID have both the 1.0.3705 and 1.1.4322 folders. I even uninstalled
..net, manully deleted both folders. However installing .Net 1.1 also
recreated the 1.0.3705 folder, however I could see by the new
installation, that it didn't fill it with all the necessary files.

It did give me another error message, which I dont' think is .Net
related, since it's Ghost which gives the error message and not .Net.

Description: Unable to successfully reconcile changes since last

Cannot initialize the Storage Management Engine.

So I've written to Symamtec Support again.

Once again - thanks for your help!!
