I bought a new dvd rewriter for my 1501 laptop. but I dont know how to install it. do I unscrew the back HELP!!!!!
I want to burn some family dvd's this weekend.
Most optical drives these days are held in place by one or two screws and a locking mechanism. Are there any catches/switches on the bottom of your notebook that have a picture of a CD next to them?
There is a screw to the left of the black label that had a padlock symbol next to it. Remove that screw (it is the only one that holds the drive in). Then, the easiest way and safest way to pull the drive out is to eject the tray either before you shut down the laptop or by using a pin in the emergency eject hole and then just gently tug on it and you will quickly see that it slides out easily. Then just slide in the new drive and replace that screw (you might need to remove the mounting bracket that has the screw hole from the old drive to the new one if it doesn't have it). Hope this helps.
