Check out the Lenovo Y530. It will more than meet your expectations. Lenovo is a high quality brand and you'll notice that with their laptops. I know many people who have a 5-6 year old IBM laptop (Lenovo is a specialized IBM) and are still using them and they still work great. The Y530 is a brand new model, fairly inexpensive, and a great product all around. You should definitely look into them. Ask around, most people will tell you Lenovo is one of the best.
I have had a few laptops , at the moment I have a macbook pro 15.5 inch with bootcamp running xp pro , and it is superb , pricey , yes , but they hold their value
