I'm about to buy an Olevia 32in LCD TV and from what I've heard, the tv speakers kind of suck. So I'm thinking about getting a receiver and some speakers. My question is this: I live in a one bedroom apartment with lots of med students and old people around me. That being said, I'd like an audio option that will A) sound good B) not have lots of wires, so preferably some type of 2 speaker or 2.1 set up and C) stay within a 200-300 dollar budget. I'm not sure if this type of set up even exists, so I thought I'd turn to the knowledgable folks of the tomshardware forums. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you're really paranoid about letting out too much noise you could get a nice pair of Sennheiser wireless cans.
