I need help in picking a burner. The main purpose is for long term backup of photos, second is to make copies of music CD's for use in the car and at work ( I'm hard on disks and don't like using the original disk). Backing up to CD's has been working fine with my 3 meg camera but I'm going to move up to a 8.5 meg slr soon and am going to need more capacity.

What would you recommend for a drive, and which media for long term storage.

This drive is going in a new computer I am planning to build.

Thanks

Plextor is the best but is also one of the more expensive brands. If you want one for a more normal price go for a LiteOn or MSI, they're both excellent drives. The LGs are pretty solid also.

Is it a bad thing if there is smoke coming out of my case?
