Hello,

I'd like to upgrade to 512-768 ram. I currently have a stick of 256 ram, type DDR-SDRAM PC2100, made by SpecTek Incorporated. I have a VIA motherboard with 2 slots for ram. BIOS by Phoenix Technologies, LTD. Processor is an AMD Athlon XP, 2 GHz. Graphics card is a Radeon 9200, 128mb. Most demanding program will be Dawn of War for the foreseeable future.
I'm wondering what my options are in terms of the type of ram I should get, and whether it is worth using the stick I already have.

If you havent had any problems with the current stick, get a 512 mb stick from the same company. If your not overclocking you should be ok just getting any 512 mb stick. Newegg had a 512 mb stick from PMI for 61 bucks.

If you are running Windows XP 256, I think is the minimum you should have. Generally if you are doing anything real demanding you could get away with just getting another 256 stick. 512 is generally enough for most stuff. Going to 768 would pretty much garuntee that you don't run out of RAM (Although you may not even use 512).
