I am just about to order a Socket 939 system based on :

- MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum MB
- AMD Athlon 64 FX53 CPU

So I went out there on the Net to buy 1 GB RAM and (almost) became crazy .
It's full of latencies , frequencies , cycles , double channels and what not .
Names that could be written in Chinese and make no difference to me like "Corsair TwinX 2x512 Mo DDR-3200XLPro" .
Prices that go from 100 € to 500 € (not that I care but it surely means something) .

OK so I settled on Corsair TwinX 2x512 Mo DDR PC4000 .
Why ?
Well it makes 1 GB , Corsair has a good reputation and 4000 is a greater number than 3200 .

Could you tell me if it's OK with my system (knowing that I don't intend to tinker aka overclock and only want to play)?

But please , please NO latencies , frequencies or this or that kind could be cheaper !
Tell me only "It's OK" or "Your choice isn't well adapted to your system . Better would be XY ."

Thanks in advance .

I am pretty much a newbie in this, but if you are not into overclocking and never will be, I think you will be better off with the 3200 or 4000 Ballistix memory as I read on the forum it is very good. Or you can save some and get a normal 3200 from Corsair, Crucial, OCZ.

Else, if you dont care about money, get this. It looks good!

Latencies refer to response times. I won't bore you with the details and I'll just leave it at the fact that lower latencies mean lower response times.

That's why I'd go with Crucial Ballistix PC4000, it has lower latencies. You don't want to learn about latencies, so just trust me on it. I own both Corsair XMS4000 Pro (TwinX 1024MB pack), and Crucial Ballistix PC4000, and the Balistix offers much better performance.

If you wanted to learn more, you could read my XMS4000 Pro and Ballistix 4000 reviews at Sysopt.com. But I can just some it up as "Ballistix performs better".
