I am in the market for a new LCD monitor. I currently have a 19" NEC LCD. I was looking at the 22" widescreen LCD's. My monitor has a res. of 1280x1024 and all of the 22" LCD's have 1680x1050 is there a noticeable difference in quality between those 2? I also saw a Samsung 20.1" that had a res. of 1600x1200. Is there a big difference? I am a gamer and I have a 8800GTX video card, so I know power is not an issue. And I cannot afford a 24" with a higher res.

image quality no. gaming experience IMO yes.

having a larger res means everything appears crisper. also with some games they expand your point of view to allow more peripheral vision. i belive the source engine does this although i haven't done a comparison myself.

1680 x 1050 is a nice enough res although 19 x 12 is better :P

still, it is your choice. perhaps waiting for more replies will help.
