not usually a poster here in this section as it aint my area. however, i need some advice.

even though i like my creative speakers, for music i know i couldn't pay some people to use them :P now, a person on my works intranet is selling a pair of tannoy revolution R3's for £150. he says they are near mint condition and i am thinking of enquiring about them.

i have read some reviews of them on here http://www.audioreview.com/cat/spe [...] 94crx.aspx

now i don't yet have an amp for them and i don't have too much room at least in my bedroom but would these be a good buy at £150 even if they are second hand?

would appreciate any comments.

Interesting second hand speakers can be had from quite a few places at quite a range of prices. I've picked up second hand Kef kit speakers complete with race track bass drivers for under ~£90 and my current Tannoy Dual concentrics for ~£80. Both found at Cash Converters. You would be surprised what is out there.

I don't know enough about the revolutions to comment. What did they retail at when new?

ye i should have posted that i did buy them. the guy i got them from paid £600 quid new although perhaps they could have been bought cheaper cheaper, not sure.

they are pretty old at 7 years but sound great. ended up getting a cambridge audio 640A amp and a squeezebox v3 to play the music on my harddrive.

IMO it was money well spent as i doubt i would have got the same quality from new speakers for the same price.

£50 for those on ebay would have been nice but i aint keen on ebay myself. i would have had to collect them or pay for shipping and i at least got a chance to listen to them before buying as he was a local seller.

And this is twice that I've not read the bloody dates

lol..

Sounds like you've built up a nice little rig. And most importantly you are enjoying it. I think for the price you would struggle to get something better new.

I like the Cambridge kit. I used to have a CD6 which was a little stunner for the money. A friend had an A1mk3SE which I liked a lot. That Azur looks rather tasty.

Second hand hi-fi can be a lot of fun...

oddly enough i seen a guy locally selling some B&W dm601's plus stands for only £20. i actually asked if that was the actual price he was selling them for as they could have been used as tv speakers but by the time he had responded he had already sold them.

seeing as they cost around £250 new i thought he would have aimed higher. as you say, some good deals second hand and it aint like speakers become obselete with age.
