We replaced the inverter on my Satellite and it worked like a charm...for about a month. Now it is black again...though you can still faintly see the desktop on the screen. External monitor works perfectly....Do you think the inverter was faulty or do we need a new backlight? Thanks!!!

Likely the backlight. No real way to tell, though.

unlikely to be backlight though still possible.
Did you replace with universal inverter or specific toshiba inverter.

Some of the universal ones are not too tolerant of over voltage and some laptops need a few diodes in series to drop the voltage to the required level
