i was looking for a good mother board around and i came up with this solution which supports my pocket as well as my needs .....P4C-800-E deluxe....i was just wondering how good is its sound quality as i will connecting it to a 5.1 system for DVD movies.....and does it soupport EAX...??? ...but then is it wise to shift to creative audizy or better sound card or i can stay with my onboard sound..
plz help i m not able to find much help on onboard sound...

The sound is OK but the VRM (voltage regulator for the CPU) is crappy, I'd save money and get the Abit IS7.

if you have a nice 5.1 setup get an audigy 2zs for 76 on pricewatch

The onboard sound for these boards isn't stunning, but it's passable. And they support 5.1. Also, the drivers are usually much better than Creative's bloatware, even if the sound quality is lower.

One thing about the Asus boards is they have only 3 analog connections, to get 5.1 analog you have to reconfigure the mic and line input as outputs, taking away your inputs. The IS7 has 5 jacks so you don't need to make such sacrifices.

For most people the Audigy2 ZS is an impressive waste of money.

In my opinion no soundcards are worth the price of the Audigy2 ZS

Look if you have a nice 5.1 setup get a soundcard.
Do you listen to a lot of music watch movies if you do and have a 5.1 setup get a soundcard If you dont dont get the card

Just try the onboard sound you should be find, if its not enough for you get a soundcard its an easy upgrade
