Hi, i know nothing about LCD. I have always used CRT but now when its time for me to buy a new computer i was thinking i should get an LCD.
My budget is something like $280-350.
I use my computer mostly for games and movies and i dont like LCD's with "input-lag" or whatever it is called, very hard to enjoy a game when its lagging but i dont know how big of a problem that is, i dont know if its common.
Viewsonic VX922 - one of the fastest response time; but be warned that no LCD is free from motion blur (except maybe the new special BFI or 120Hz models).

Its ok with alittle blur i gues if its unavoidable. How is the picture quality on Viewsonic VX922?
CNET reviews: "The 19-inch ViewSonic VX922's fast 2-millisecond pixel response makes for stellar gaming performance, but DVD playback disappoints; nongamers may be better served by a more adjustable LCD."
I do watch alot of movies, will that be a problem with that monitor? My time with the computer is like 60% movies/surfing the internet/schoolstuff (programming ...) and 40% games

I would rate Cnet as one of the worst computer hardware review sites on the net. Be careful relying only on them for a purchase.

Suggest checking out any newegg comments on the VX922, as well as seeing if Tomshardware, Anandtech, and/or xbitlabs has reviewed the VX922 (as well as any other hardware review sites).

I checked some reviews on newsegg on VX922 and some people think it is bad for dark movies and dark games. I should add that i dont actually have a TV which means my computer handles all my entertainment and i really do watch alot of movies so i want it to look good. I also like dark games like DOOM3 and i want them to look good in the dark.
And also, i read this on a webbpage

at this point in time, we do not recommend purchasing a non-HDCP monitor unless you are planning to use it as a secondary display for text, photos, and games only.
Should i look for a LCD with HDCP support, i want to be able to use the monitor for atleast 5 years. Or is HDCP just for big screens or something like that?

Well I can never (and I mean never) fully recommend HDCP. It is an utterly chilling technology in the way it tries to control the way you can view digital content. Having said that you might consider getting it to be on the safe side if you ever plan on hooking up HD content to your monitor.
"The assessment is a little more mixed for video. A good deal of sparkling was perceptible on color masses. And what's more, the viewing angles, in particular the vertical, were quite narrow. So the VX922 is a gamer's monitor first and foremost."
I am alittle worried. I dont have a TV and watch alot of movies. Is there a better monitor for me at $350-370 maybe?
