To match a black case. I just bought a new case but I don't want to change all of my drives. Thanks.

Yes you can paint the drives, I have done this in the past. You will have to take the faceplate off of the drive. Then I would clean it with something, I normally use alcohol, or sometimes even brake cleaner, whatever is handy. Then you have to use a adhesion promoter, which can be found at any AutoParts store. Then use black paint, and then it is best to use an Automotive Clear, also avaiable from an Autoparts store, to help protect the paint from chipping. The faceplate should be pretty easy to remove, and for the drive door, I would open the drive, and tape off the inside, then paint just the outer part. Painting it like this will keep the drive from sticking shut, from paint.

That vinyl dye looks good.  Make sure you wear a mask though.
