This will be my first LCD monitor after years of using CRT's. I currently have a 24" Sony Trinitron W900 Widescreen CRT. Nice monitor, but weighing in at over 85lb, which is a bit too much to handle.

Anywho, I went to a few stores yesterday, and checked out both of these. I love the Samsung 226BW to death, it looks awesome, both on the desktop and in games. However, it just seems to be a bit small. I like my monitors BIG...for movies, games, and graphics. The Gateway FPD2485 has a great control panel, has 2 Component in, S-video, Composite, VGA, DVI...and is HUGE. I really would like to hook up a HD cable box up to it. I currently have a S-video signal going though my 1900XTX card. The timing is 6ms though, and the Samsung is 2ms.

I just want a opinion from you guys on what I should get. Or, if you all have any other suggestions.

LOL, not really fair!

Hell, for the price you can almmost get 2 of the samsungs and put them next to each other!

I think I'd get the 24 inch if money wasn't an issue. I still haven't heard much about that 226B, just came out! Hell... you can get the samsung 225B for $317.00 (new, factory sealed) and free delivery at cost central!

Well...I compared the 225BW to the 226BW...and there is no comparision. The 226BW pretty much is a replacement to the 225BW. It's faster, brighter, nicer to look at, and no backlight on black ^_^.

Also, my desk is made to hold only 1 monitor.

I'm sure that if I wait for a few months, some bigger/better/cheaper 24" monitors might come out. I mean, some monitors I saw last year that were going for over $600 bucks are now in the $400 range. But, it's like a tipping point now...cause I sooooo wanna replace my monster of a CRT I have now

True! I guess it also depends on what you're using it for. To get the faster response time they probably put one of those overdrives in it. I just have heard as much bad as good when it comes to the overdrive systems.
For me... Gaming mainly, first person shooters! LOL
Have fun with it!!
