My mb can't see my new HD, old HD went bad.

Have you tried cable select instead of master? Also is this a SATA drive, or still an IDE? What size hard drive did you get, what kind, and do you know what motherboard you have, or chipset?

Maxtor 40 G, IDE, computer Dell 4100, going to try cable select.
Old HD went bad, clicking sound, is there a chance that mb went bad too becouse of that?
Connected to different slot on mb, same results.
Look like bad new HD. Thanx
