So I bought an Asus g50t. It runs great, etc. But I noticed when under load it was running kinda hot. 90ish C.

On the bottom of the laptop is an interesting looking round port that resembles a speaker. The manual says it is supposed to be an air intake.

After taking the case off the bottom it is the exact spot the fan is. So this would make sense.

But after further inspection it is totally impassable by air in or out and has special cut black tape completely blocking this vent. I can't imagine why they would do this, especially after making it aesthetically pleasing on the outside.

Furthermore, after removing the tape there isn't even a vent in the casing at this area -_-
It's completely solid under the tape and the vent on the outside just seems to be some type of mistake in design that was never corrected.

Anyone else find the same results?

Yep, dont understand it either, maybe a marketing scheme for a fake subwoofer.

Update: I took the case off and cut the hole for the vent. It's dramatically improved the heat reduction on the processor. (no changes to appearance of the laptop.)
