Would I notice any difference?

My system specs:
Ati Radeon 9500 pro
MSI Kt3 Ultra motherboartd
Athlon XP 2400+ processor
512MB of PC2100 ram
Win2K SP4

I'm thinking about buying more memory. However, I only have one slot free and not enough money to buy a 512MB stick. I'm considering buying, for the moment, an aditional 256mB stick an, if needed in the future, selling one of the 256Mb modules I have and replacing it with a 512Mb module.

However, my question is. Will I notice a performance difference with the additional 256mb or will I be better off just waiting for when I have the money to buy an extra 512Mb (which could be quite some time away).

Obivsuly it depends on what you do with your computer, but generally you won't notice a difference going from 512 to 768, or even 1024. I'd venture to guess if you watch your memory useage right now, you probably don't use all of your 512 MB now.

I would either leave it alone, or buy a faster 512 MB chip, then you could overclock your chip a little, and you would definitely see a difference.
