Does the crossfire make up for the missing gig of ram? or am i better off with a single nvidia card?

If I buy m17 alienware w/ single ATI, can I later upgrage it w/ dual ATI?

gamemaniac plz read some reviews first AW M17 isn't the best model out there,there are better models like SAGER 9850,AW M17x,ASUS W90...
