Floppy disk drive weird problem

Hi all,

Lately my floppy disk drive started acting weird. All of a sudden and while
i am browsing in "My Computer" or around the desktop (this is two of the
places i noticed the problem) the floppy disk drive just seeks for a second
or two (the led turns on and then off, while i can hear the head moving)
without having a disk in, or me having requested to do so. Is this normal? I
have checked my computer for viruses/spyware and found nothing. This does not
happen all the time but periodically. I thought it might be caused by a
certain application but i cannot pin it down at the moment. I checked the
event viewer but there is nothing there either.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Yannis,

This behavior is caused from several issues. Check over this list:

Good luck and keep us posted!

Do u use your floppy drive these days ?
If not just disable it in your bios or remove it all together.
As for your problem if u want one, buy another and see if tht fixes it. They
r cheap.
