US keyboard on UK laptop

I recently purchased a second hand US keyboard for my UK Toshiba Satellite 1110. I wasn't worried about the different layout. Whilst most keys work, there are a few that don't. Not keys that you'd expect-like p and 0 for example.The regional settings are set for the UK. A cursory search for drivers proved elusive. Could it just be a bad keyboard or is there something I can do? Any help greatly appreciated.
