I'm trying to decide on the best monitor for my needs and budget as a gamer/developer/designer/14 hours a day computer addict.

From what I've read on this forum and a few other sites (like Xbit... not like CNet :P ), and choosing from the selection of monitors available here in my country, I have narrowed my choice to the Samsung 225BW or the NEC 20WGX2...

However, I'm afraid I don't know enough to make the final choice, or be confident about my choice (maybe there's something I'm missing/don't know).

What do you guys think?

P.S. - Should I be worried that these two are 5/6 ms and not 2 ms like everyone else is showing off these days, or is this not an issue in these screens?

Definitely not the Samsung. It is a TN panel. If you are trying to choose between the two, the NEC is much, much better.
However, keep in mind that the NEC does have the glossy screen. It is good for image editing in terms of getting rid of the speckled/dirtly look that the matte finish has; however it is also suppossedly bad for image editing in terms of reflections and the possible difficulty with some color due to reflections.

Simple answer: No. The box specs are an outright lie; you can't trust response time specs listed on the box.
Longer answer: In the case of the NEC 20WGX2, no. The response time is equal to that of the VX922, which is among the faster panel types; the VX922 is listed as 2ms, BTW, though this too is an outright lie since the panel is actually really 8-10ms.
Keep in mind that even this will not get rid of blurring/smearing during motion.

If that's all you can choose from, I agree with KevinAr18.

If you can wait, I say forget both. Ssee if you can track down the Samsung 226BW, it's one of, if not the, best 22" widescreens out there right now.

A little pricey, but worth it IMO.

Thanks for the help guys.

I went ahead and bought the NEC MultiSync 20WGX2...
I'm quite happy, except for the fact that I've been get splitting headaches everyday since I got this screen... I'm going to do a "control group" for a few days using my old screen to see if it's indeed because of the screen... Anyone else experienced something like that?

LiuKang: As far as I can see, the Samsung 226BW isn't available here in Israel yet... So I don't think that's an option right now.

Sounds like you have the brightness turned up too high..

After you've checked brightness, you might want to check the glare factor. (Wouldn't it be nice if they made panels that were both anti-glare and smooth finish at the same time? :) )

LOL... Maybe we'll see that right after they invent coffee which is both hot and cold at the same time.

I can't see reflection being any kind of problem at all. Of course you notice it when the screen is turned off, but as soon as you display something, the glare becomes virtually unnoticeable... even with a light behind. (One exception might be watching a movie with a large consistently dark area on screen... but then, couldn't you turn out the light during the movie?) "Glare" concerns are waaayyy overblown, IMO. On a scale of 100 with 100 being worst, I'd call it < 10.
