More RAM worth the upgrade?

Hi. As a short term solution, say 2-3 months before I go all out with a new pc, I am wondering if more ram will give a significant performace boost to my gameplay, mainly doom3 and half-life2 when it comes out. I currently have a AMD 2100+ with 256MB of ram and a raedon 9500pro, the chipset is VIAKT133a i think, so the ram is pc133. I'm running winXP SP1. I couldn't find any benchmarks with my specs on 256megs and 512 megs to compare. I can play doom3 on 640 on low detail, but sometimes it's choppy. When windows boots up i usually have about 110 megs free and about a 220 meg page file size.

Should I buy 256 more megs? What kinda performance gain can I expect?

You will likely see a massive over all improvement in system performance if you buy 256mb more ram. PC133 is pretty cheap so the upgrade won't hurt the pocket book all that much. Doom III would really be happy if you poped for a 512mb stick but that would only really be a good choice if you plan on sticking with your current machine for a while. If you plan on upgrading soon don't waste to much money on your current system. Just 256mb more should make your computer decent for a little longer even if it is just PC133
