How would I fix a phone if it wont charge/turn on?

yesterday my sony ericsson ep500 was working fine however it took a lifetime to charge to 10% battery i put it back on charge and was playing a game before going to bed and then this morning i noticed the phone was completely flat and wouldnt charge up or turn on with the charger plugged in

Try a new battery. If that does not work, try a new charger. If that does not work, the power plug could be bad, need to repair it. Phone could be dead also completely.
