Like many people, I didn't really know what to make of that final line
in Shade, where the tiny figure says "You win. Okay, my turn again."
Then I played System's Twilight, also by Zarf, which gave me an idea
about this (possibly a wrong idea, but an idea). In System's Twilight,
when you're in the middle of one of the puzzles, there is a pull-down
menu that gives you instructions on how to complete it. Then, after
you've completed it, the same menu just says "Your turn." To me it was
Zarf's way of saying "You no longer need instructions from me, and I
won't give you any more hints or advice. I'm not going to reveal my
hand. What happens next up to you."
In Shade, the figure says "my turn," but since the figure is you, it
could be rephrased as "your turn." Which, maybe, is Zarf's way of
saying "I'm not going to reveal my hand." -- i.e. "You wanted a nice
neat explanation to tie everything together? Too bad, I'm going to
leave everything ambiguous instead."

I've little to say about this, accept that your explanation seems pretty
good. But still, if you ask me, that game was a bit two surreal for any
sort of explaination.
All the Best,
Zack

An interesting concept. Of course, if it's true, Zarf by definition
will never confirm it. =)
