i have a problem with LG CD/RW 52x in my comp. when i try to copy some CDs on my comp it gives me a error (source erorr or somethimes I/O error). i tried to put this drive in my other computer and it works perfectly. i than tried another drive (Samsung DVD-ROM) in this 1st computer on the same channel as master and it works also perfectly. i'm out of ideas. the mainboard is MSI 645 combo (SiS 645 chipset). please help. thanks.

What program are you using to copy with?

Technically for "optimal" performance, your CD-RW drive should be on a different channel than the HD.

IDE Cables are very strange. Some work nearly forever, others go bad and cause weird problems. So nothing would suprise me, I've seen cables go bad in a computer case that hasn't been opened in years, they will just die, for some unknown reason.

So it sounds like you just a cable go out on you. Easy fix.
